What do I do at Grace Evan? My official title is "Minister of Adult Discipleship." That essentially means I serve by providing oversight, care and leadership to Grace Groups, Adult Sunday school, discipleship groups, Intensives, and the Grace Evan staff. Currently, I teach on Sunday mornings in the Crossroads class, lead two Grace Groups and several men's discipleship groups. |

Where are your from? I consider Tennessee home! I graduated from school in Cleveland, TN in 1974 and Memphis State (now U of M) in 1979. My wife, Melinda, was reared in Memphis, graduated from Overton and Methodist School of Nursing in 1982. Our children were born in Tennessee, too. We left Memphis in 1987 and have lived in southwest Florida for the past nine years. I have a Masters of Divinity degree from Reformed Theological Seminary and am pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree. |

Family? Melinda and I have been married for over 20 years and have two children: Jenny Rebecca and Jeffrey "Ryan." Jenny is named for our mothers and Ryan is my namesake. |

What are some favorite movies and books? I enjoy old movies - the AMC channel kind (Vertigo, Nevada Smith, Rear Window, Shane, etc.); however, I also like more recent things, too (Braveheart, Gladiator, Unforgiven, Lord of the Rings, etc.).
J.I. Packer, Iain Murray, and David Martyn Lloyd-Jones are favorite authors. My all-time favorite would be Knowing God by Packer, but another life-impacting read would be Arnold Dallimore's two-volume work on George Whitefild, the eighteenth century English preacher. Theology and biography are the main topics, although I have enjoyed reading history. Anything written by William Manchester is well worth the time and effort to read. Great writer!! |
