The longing to find a spouse is a noble and normal longing. The process is what often generates great disappointment and frustration. During the Becoming The One retreat, we will invest time and energy to develop into a marriable individual. In time past, training to be married simply occurred by growing up and observing adults who were married. Today, this unintential training is lacking and our culture finds young adults attempting to find the right one when they haven't become the right one yet themselves. With this in mind, the Becoming The One retreat is geared toward spiritual and emotional maturation to move individuals toward being marriable. When you are the right one, then the process of finding the right one will improve also.
For the 2008 retreat, several topics will be explored via teaching and discussion groups led by Johnathan and Leila Todd, minister and counselor who have been married for thirteen years. The session topics are:
