/files/Senior High/parents copy.jpgWelcome to the Parent's Page

If you're like the normal mom or dad, you just wish someone would ever-so-often throw you a rope...maybe send some help your way when it comes to this increasingly difficult job of parenting teenagers. We might not be able to provide all of the help that is needed, but we might can help a little. This page is designed to recommend resources that assists us in our ministry, and we feel that they might be a benefit to you as well. So check them out, and come back often because we will be updating this page whenever we find something worth your time.

Also, when we go through a series in the Sr. High, we will update this page with any of the books that are used in study and preparation. This might be some good reading for you to do in order to better communicate to your child with what they are learning on Sundays and Wednesday nights.

Lastly, you'll find a way to sign up for the Parent's Network. Scroll down and click on the picture in order to be part of the effort to connect parents to one another and to the ministry.

Recommended Resources

Center for Parent/Youth Understanding
This website provides many helpful
resources for the minister and parent. From
recommended books to articles on pop
culture trends, this is a site that we visit often.
You can even sign up for a free monthly
newsletter.

Redeeming Pop Culture by T.M. Moore
This book is helpful in teaching us how to view
the world with a Christian world-and-life view.
This is a required read for all interns, so it is
highly recommended.

Bored With God by Sean Dunn
This is a very simple read that gives a good
description of the heart of this generation.
If you want to know why your child might
respond to church, God, etc. like he or she
does, this might interest you.

Chameleon Christianity by Dick Keyes
This is a short but profitable book that
encourages believers to get out of the "bunker"
mentality and live a life for Christ in hurting
world.

Sex and the Supremacy of Christ by John Piper
Every student will deal with sex in some form or
fashion. Equip yourself with a proper worldview
by reading this book. There are many theological
giants who have some compelling insights in
how sex should be rightly viewed.

The Westminster Shorter Catechism
If you're not familiar with the catechism, it's not
as dry as it might sound. It is simply 107
questions concerning the Christian faith. Go over
a question each night with your sons and
daughters at the dinner table. This might be
the only Biblical truth that they hear all day.

Parent's Network

Parenting can be a dirty job, but can also
yield some wonderful fruit. But this takes a lot of
work. We want to help by introducing a parent's
network that is "for the parents, by the parents."
Click on the picture above to be part of this group.
When you do, you'll begin receiving information
when like-minded parents will be getting together
to meet and support one another and promote
God-honoring growth for your high school student.
