Wilder MIT

Wilder Correctional Facility is for the incarcerated male, age 13–19. This prison houses around 140 or so youth, and consists primarily of inner city Memphis gang members. As you might imagine most of these boys are from broken homes where there is no father present. They need positive male role models.

There is a great need for mentors! The Wilder Ministry Initiative Team (MIT) mentor the incarcerated youth by telling them about Christ through Bible study, mostly one on one. We spend an hour between 6:00-8:00 PM, any evening you are available M-F. Sometimes we meet in the chapel and other times in the individual dorms depending on where they are assigned. Mentors need to be able to clearly communicate the gospel and be consistent each week.  If you would like more information about Wilder MIT or how to begin the interviewing and screening process to become part of the team, please contact Mike Heath.
